so whats the point? that wiki post aloe refutes some of what people are saying they want/don't want in the game

Now some are actually stating things they want/don't want that we've known are going to be/not going to be in game game already, its all fine and dandy to post that you want/don't want something, but when we already know some information and people ignore it, then thats just stupid

Wants:
*Balence
*Less focus on the warrior class eqipment in pve
*More rewarding quests/dungeons in pve
*More than just killing, no not houses or anything, but more mini game like things ect, and ffs dont base them around a title, games with no reward are enjoyed more as they are not taken so seriosly.
*Account wide customisation
*Less predible pve, like not just the same monsters each time you zone.
*slightly more "active" fell to pve

Dont's:
*Large focus on titles
*Titles like drunkard
*loot scaling, classic example how not to solve a probem
*Usless skills
*Grind to win (I.e wow)
*Badley designed armor that clips with everything ¬¬
*The america/euro split.
*Hero battles
*Ritulists

Basicly id like them to fix the faults of GW1 that are to late to fix now, such as the way certain titles work, clipping armor, the design of hero battles and the way certain classes were designed, such as the assassin being a 12345 class or a second rate warrior.

Probs forgot loads but meh ^^.

Nope, it's not. For a game in development, there's never any harm in discussing what you want or don't want from it. Don't belittle people for expressing opinions.

Keep in mind that much of the info on that link is rather old. "much has changed since those interviews were given" to paraphrase a very recent reply to an old interview.

The lore, and story appear rather solid, but many here are discussing game mechanics. I'd bet anything much of the game mechanics are subject to change, and will change as Arena Net sorts out in which direction they want to take things.

+ PvE/PvP skill separation so that PvE-only players will stop crying so loudly.
+ Less focus on titles, more focus on gameplay. Grinding for a line of text is a terrible excuse to let my perfectionism beat out my common sense.
+ More frequent skill balance updates. As of today it's been over a month since the last one for GW.

- The current hard mode system. How about instead of taking the lazy route and throwing ridiculous boosts on your monsters, you improve their AI and add to the game in the long run.
- 1v1, or hero battles. Guild Wars is a team-based game. You work with other players to create a single entity to fight the other team (or rabble of monsters, as it may be). Having such small arena formats makes it nearly impossible to balance the skills properly for both arena use and larger team use.
- Nothing else immediately springs to mind that would go in the negative category.

I'm not intending to belittle people, but we have beta's starting mid to late this year (2008 and happy new year everyone) and i don't see the point in talking about something that isn't around to talk about yet

besides, ANet already know what they want to do with it and we'll see what they do when the beta's hit and then we can comment, but til then, its just pointless

Wants:

A Good Storyline
Non Combat related Skills/Activities
A level Cap no Higher than 50, it raised at all.
Non-Customized Armor/Weapons
Quests with actually usable rewards
Weapons based on quality, not vanity
Holiday Events, just better.
Soloable areas/gameplay

Don't Wants:

Titles. There are other ways of receiving benefits. These just cause E-Peen rage.
Reskins
Utopia Please.
New Classes
Established PvP areas, please don't mix them.

I'll edit this and say something else.

~Big Want From Me Personally

I want a far more open ended storyline. Having a main series of quests/missions is fine, there's no trouble with it, but seriously, everything else is just a side dish. There was hardly anything exciting left to do after you beat the main storyline, and frankly, it left me wanting more. I think it was far too short, being the case that there was nothing exciting to do except side quests that had little point in completing, and maxing titles/Earning money which is just for E-Peen sake.

I'd really like to see a campaign that isn't just one giant bus-ride. In all the GW campaigns, I felt it. You just rode along the route, getting off at certain stops, but then you just get back on and travel to your destination. I would love to see a storyline where you can get to that destination any way you so choose, and not just ride a single bus. Do side quests and have them matter. Or even an unstructured storyline, where the player has to delve deep into the all the game to see its full capacity instead of just watching a movie. Personally, and this is just my humble opinion, that would be great.

even though my dreams are never filled in online games i'll give it a shot.
the things i want for gw2 are the following.

wants:
-full persistence everywhere(no load screens)

-able to teleport without going through a load screens(runescape)

-replace map travel with teleportation spells for realism

-mounts(dont make us walk all the way to a quest marker thats far and make us go through a whole bunch of monsters(do knowledgeable asura quest)

-player housing

-something to do besides kill(crafting, fishing, boating, immense features(see boating)

-a marriage system(i know this sounds dumb and useless but its really fun sometimes as long as they dont make it like the sims)

-flying not for travel but for new mid-flight pvpve(see aion the tower of eternity)

-alot of minigames(play runescape)

-let us play as tengu

-actuall npc conversations(runescape)

-huge world anything is possible(warcraft)

-underwater mounts

-quest based storyline(no missions)

-the whole world is explorable(do not seperate the world by town, outpost, everywhere else(runescape)

-addicting world(world of warcraft,runescape)

-alot of events like random dragon attacks with hundreds of different event combination and triggers.

-pets for all classes(i hate being ranger just to get a pet)

-player owned stores

-free unstructured pvp make a wild area were any1 can attack anyone(runescape)

-make the game live up to its name, 12 v 12 isnt guildwar, make a real guild war( kal online) (flyff) (voyage century)

-dont force us to team all the time how about 1v1 pvp

-more gear dependency

-this thread stickied
-----------------------------------------------------
now here are the things i really wish gw2 wont have

donts:
-instances(only for dungeons)

-hundreds of skills(to many useless ones)

-complicated combat(to hard to find a right build)

-bad graphics

-grind

-titles

-monthly fee

-overdone group pvp underdone solo pvp

-annoying mobs while you walk(let us find them)

-untradable HoM items in gw2(let us sell them and make it really rare)

Wants:
Heroes
Dervs
Titles and a lack of lvl grind (above a certain point its only for show).

Dont want:
An elite armor (fow) that everyone ends up having just from ebaying
The need to identify white items for extra cash
Blue and other crap items to drop, i prefer money rather than clogging my inventory.

And obviously there is a bunch of other things i want and dont want as well...

Since when have something having a point and having a discussion thread been connected? Yes, GW2 is awhile off. Yes, Anet probably already knows alot of what they do/do not want to do. No, we won't see anything really until beta. So what? People want to say what they do/do not want to see in GW2. It will most likely have no effect on the actual product, but who knows? We may give the devs food for thought. In the meantime, it gives ppl a feeling of control in a world of chaos lol...is that a bad thing?

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'd prefer that GW2 not become the WoW clone a lot of people in this thread are making it out to be, and I do complain about other issues now and then, but if the story's good and non-linear, you got me.
